Czech Theatre Night is part of the wider European Theatre Night project that has been held on the third Saturday of November every year since 2008 and that seeks to showcase theatre in a creative and original way. In 2013 ten European countries (Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Serbia, Slovakia, and Slovenia) and 400 theatres and institutions in 120 towns and cities participated in European Theatre Night. In the Czech Republic, Theatre Night took place for the first time on 16 November 2013. More than 80 amateur and professional theatres and ensembles in 25 towns across Bohemia and Moravia participated and saw attendance from over 40,000 spectators. The second Theatre Night took place in the Czech Republic on 15 November 2014. ‘The Year of Czech Music’ was the collective theme of this year’s event. The third Theatre Night will take place on 21 November 2015.
